Article Marketing Automation Review – Does it Work, We Have it Tested?

Article marketing is a method of marketing your online business through strategically placed articles that generate back links to your site. The success of this method has been proven year after year and has resulted in thousands of services and software packages that help online businesses market themselves. Now, a new service has emerged by the name of ArticleMarketingAutomation (AMA) that purports to take article marketing to the next level. So, does it work?

The Idea behind Article Marketing

The idea behind article marketing is for website owners to submit articles to blogs and content sites which invite open submission. These sites can be directly related, in theme, to the submitter’s own site, or they can be completely unrelated. The point is, Google and other search engines love back links and will rank your website according to the number of relevant links it finds all across the Internet. Submitting articles which contain several back links to your site will almost always improve your search engine ranking.

An extra “bonus” of the AMA service is the increased tendency of your article to be published to sites whose themes are relevant to your business. Relevancy is the key to high search engine placement. There’s no point in trying to fool the search engines with random, unrelated content that simply contains a back link or two. By publishing content to on-theme sites, AMA can increase your search ranking to the first page in just a few weeks.

AMA is Automated

As the name suggests, the AMA program takes the task of manual article submissions and automates it. With automation, you can finally say goodbye to the long hours of contacting endless websites seeking permission to post your content. But how is the automation accomplished?

AMA members are divided into three categories: those looking for content, those providing content, and those interested in both. By its very nature the program already has thousands of built-in members who are looking for relevant content to place on their sites. At last count AMA had about 2,000 sites actively accepting content, with the goal of reaching 10,000 to 15,000 in the very near future.

With AMA automation, you simply provide the content, set your parameters, and sit back as the system does the rest. You’ll have your articles, complete with back links, up on the web and indexed by search engines as quickly as possible. In fact, the biggest challenge of using AMA is actually providing the articles. If you can write your own material you’re golden; if not, there are services that provide articles at a reasonable cost.

AMA Pricing

AMA’s pricing model is very simple they have one set monthly rate which costs $47 and allows you to do anything that the system offers.

The Pros and Cons of AMA

Pros
• Easy to use thanks to its clean, crisp interface
• Spinning your articles can mean uniqueness
• See how unique your articles are with the “percentage rewritten indicator”
• The AMA blog network is made up of largely high quality niche blogs
• Drip-feed your articles into the network by specifying submission days/dates
• An unlimited number of articles can be submitted
• Submit up to three links per article
• The links and anchor text are spinnable
• The intuitive dashboard enables you to garner post submission acceptance and keyword stats

Cons
• Tightly focussed niches do not have a great coverage
• Acceptance or rejections are solely down to the blog owners
• Error highlighting could be a tad more intelligent throughout the content spinning process
• If you are accepting content it’s not that good, simply because article marketers are allowed to submit to multiple categories, so it does tend to get spammed a bit.

AMA Provides all the Necessary Training

AMA provides its members with all the training necessary to help them take full advantage of the system. Of course, training is optional, but the more time you spend learning how to make the system work for you, more profitable it will be in the end. Understandably, AMA operates in a way that protects the integrity of their service and their members, so they don’t just give away information for free. But paid members have access to everything they need to make effective use of the service.

An AMA Case Study

Using the article marketing side of the service
We personally tested this service on a couple of blogs we operate targeting computers, home electronics, and technology niches. These sites were not ranking too well as they had just passed the 6 month age or registration and did not really have too many links pointing to them.

So the test was to create 2 articles for each of these sites and see how they respond. We did this with both brand and anchor links pointing back to each site. We went after the long tail terms to see the benefits that we could get out of the system within 6 weeks. Below are a few of the results.

Site 1 – We targeted a keyword that was already ranking on the second page of Google, this one already has a few targeted anchors coming into it, so we decided to solely push brand linking on this site. After the 2nd week of distribution the site moved into the Top 10 for its long tail term. After the month mark the positions dropped for about a week only to return a week later in position 5 which it has so far stayed.

Site 2 – The second site we did a slightly different test, we wanted to test the saturation level of these articles in Google’s index and find out how many articles were actually being picked up. We submitted an article and over the course of a month it got published around 89 times. We left a piece of the article unspun and then searched for that in Google with “”. Google were displaying 37 different versions of this article so almost half less has been picked up. We clicked through a few of these articles and found that around 10% were using the nofollow. Saying this, the rankings of the site did increase from page 10 to page 3 and I guess the nofollow tag does make the link building look natural.

Accepting Content from AMA

Now the key to any blog network’s success is to get as many high quality sites into the system accepting content as they can. So we decided to add one of our blogs into the system to receive content. All I can say about this is the results were alarming.

AMA has no category spam protection in place so a lot of article marketers were submitting their articles too multiple categories of which the article was not even relevant. We added a Fitness: Weight Loss site into the system and over the course of 2 days we received not only weight loss articles but articles about cars, gambling and more!

Conclusion

AMA is proven to increase rankings, in the end it’s just another source of backlinks and should be part of your overall linking profile. Just keep things natural and alternate your links.

If you are planning to plug your sites into the system, then we would recommend that you use the manual approve feature, so that you can check each and every article before it gets posted on your site.

Ranking: Overall we give AMA a 6/10
