My Article Network Review

Posted on Feb 06,2011

If you’re a web entrepreneur, let me ask you a question. Is article marketing part of your overall marketing strategy? If not, it should be. While article marketing is not the one simple and easy way to turn your website into the golden goose, it is an effective part of overall marketing strategy, designed to drive traffic to your website and increase your sales. My Article Network is an article submission service which helps make the task of article marketing much more manageable and efficient.

My Article Network (MAN) is very similar to other services like SEO Link Vine, Unique Article Wizard (UAW) and Article Marketing Automation (AMA) (if you are already using Article Marketing Automation then you will notice a very similar interface. This is because MAN is a whitelabel of AMA, so you only need be sign up with one of these services as they both use the same database to distribute to).

In a nutshell, users of these services provide content articles, usually around 300 words or so, which the service then submits to a given number of blogs or other websites that are part of its network. As those articles are published and republished, they generate links back to the original writer’s website which in turn, theoretically drives up web traffic.

How My Article Network Works

MAN basically has two components. First, members can sign up to only receive Web content from other writers that they can place on their own blogs. As articles are submitted for your review you can either accept or reject each one; you can also set the system to automatically reject articles that don’t meet a certain threshold of uniqueness, for example. This is a good option if you’re looking only for content that is for the most part unique.

In the second tier of service you can not only receive content but also begin submitting articles of your own. Obviously, the more work you put into submitting the articles, the more back links will be generated to your site. However, one of the things to remember is that quality matters. Because MAN is automated, it spits out spun articles to all the blogs and websites registered in its network, regardless of the quality of those sites. Although you can’t avoid having your work published on low-quality sites entirely, you can mitigate some of the downsides by producing high quality writing yourself.

My Article Network Allows Spinning

One of the tricks of the trade in article marketing is to spin an article so that a unique copy is submitted each time. Spinning is the process by which you take existing words/sentences/paragraphs and replace these with new words/sentences/paragraphs that actually mean the same thing. MAN provides a wizard to help you with this process.

Although the process of spinning text nowadays is widespread, the results of the spinning can range from perfect to downright unreadable. The English language can be complex, so undertaking the spinning of particular text should only be done if the person spinning the text has a very good grasp of oral and written English. Otherwise, as stated above, the results can end up being, well, alarming at best. A badly spun article will ultimately mean the article is rejected from the system; too many rejections could even mean a suspended account!

The MAN Network

The MAN network is pretty sizable; they claim 10,000 blogs and websites currently participating. If you know anything about generating web traffic then you know that 10,000 is a good number. Does this mean your articles will appear on all 10,000 sites? Obviously not. But if your articles appear on 100 of those sites, and just 20 to 30% of them belong to different C class IP addresses, you can get a great diversity of inbound links pointing back to your site. The size of the network, therefore, does matter.

One of the best aspects of MAN’s network is that individual users can limit the number of times a specific article can be published. While most Internet marketers don’t see a need to limit that number, some of us prefer to do so in order to maintain high quality. The more times an article is published, the more the quality tends to diminish. Even though Web articles are usually published anonymously, some of us care about our quality and don’t want to see it ruined.

At the end of the day the question remains, is MAN the right article submission service for you? There’s no way to really answer that question without giving it a try. You might ask questions of others in the network, and you might sign up on a trial basis to see whether or not it really works for you. If it helps, I’ll close this review with a case study we did.

We tested My Article Network on a website we own that focuses on a specific health niche. Although the site was coming up to a year old, no work had been done to it in an SEO sense so it wasn’t ranking anywhere in the top five pages of the Google SERP’s.

The test was to write an article for the site, submit it to MAN and see what happened. The main focus was on a specific long tail keyword we were interested in ranking, so we focussed on this and submitted – we gave the test a two month window. The results, when they came through, were extremely interesting.

After just two weeks from the submission date, our website moved onto the first page of Google (specifically to position nine) for the term we were targeting. By the time a month had passed the site was up to position six, having yoyo’d for a week or two between positions seven and fourteen. After two months we were pleasantly surprised to see the site ranking at number three in Google for the long tail keyword we were targeting.

Needless to say we are going to carry on pushing this site using My Article network!

Ranking: Overall we give MAN a 6/10
